I am a freelance textile archaeologist, with a lot of passion for historical textiles and textile crafts. These techniques have caught my interest many years ago, when I was still in my teens. Textiles, garments, crafts, and experimental archaeology also were my focus during my studies of Medieval and Early Modern Archaeology at the University Bamberg.
"How was this made?" is the first question that I have when I see a textile, and reconstructing methods and processes are what still fascinates me most. In these reconstructions, appropriate tools and materials may be a deciding factor.
Today, I'm making reconstructions of garments and other textile items for museums and for Living History and teach a number of textile techniques. I also give presentations and do demonstrations of textile crafts. Finally, you can find me on fairs and events with my market stall where you can buy tools and materials for historical textile crafts - and you can also buy those online right here in my shop. A good number of the items you find in that shop have come from my own search for the proper tool: things I was not able to find ended up being especially produced for me, using archaeological finds as the model, and then in my stock.
On these pages, you can find more information about the goods and services that I offer. There is also a number of texts about some of the textile techniques, with hints and more in-depth information, and a collection of links to online ressources. You can find all this on the main page section, where you are right now.
If you'd like to meet me in person or are looking for an online workshop, you can find out about my schedule on the Calendar page.
Also make sure to take a look at my blog where I post in English, about various topics, and from Monday to Friday. On the blog you can follow what I'm currently working on, see cat pictures, and get to know snippets of my private life. And of course there's current links to articles, events, museums, and other things that I find interesting and hope you do, too.
If you would like to get information per mail - about new things in the shop as well as a selection of interesting links and information about events, you are more than welcome to subscribe to my newsletter, which comes once a month:
Enjoy discovering the things I do and the things I offer. If you have questions, feedback or suggestions, please contact me - I am always happy to hear from you!
