Tailor's Scissors, large

Scissors like these are not made anymore - these here are from old stock. The scissors have a blade length of c 14 cm and an overall length of c 28.5 cm, making them seem like giants in comparison to most modern tailor's scissors. The biggest difference to modern versions, however: these are not held together with a screw, but riveted together.

The scissors were made in Germany, at least 60 years ago, from carbon steel (not rust-resistant or rust-free). They are uncoated and will develop a nice patina with use. Their form corresponds to images from the 14th century (for example British Library MS Harley 6563, fol. 65, dated c 1320-1330), and the rivet means they are suitable for museum environments in Living History.
