The so-called "Eiderwolle" is a mix of wool from sheep used in landscape management. It is available both in white and in a dark brown colour. This is not a strictly historical wool, but makes for a good alternative to using modern Merino for hand-spinning. The top spins beautifully and is very suitable for beginners as well as advanced spinners.
The top is machine-made in a very small combing mill in Germany. Before spinning I recommend to slightly draft out the top, making the band a little slimmer and longer; this loosens up the fibres in the band and makes spinning easier.
The wool is sold in units of 100 g. For large amounts or special needs please contact me per email!
