Shipping to Netherlands possible due to de minimis threshold there!

Due to the new EU regulations on packaging waste, all other shipping into EU countries will still remain paused. Regulations were starting on August 12, 2026. The new regulations is valid for all vendors selling within the EU. There was a discussion in the EU committee on a threshold for small volumes or a memorandum on part of the rules, but unfortunately, it came to nothing.

If you are inconvenienced by this situation, my suggestion would be to write a short, polite, personal note about how you feel directly to the EU commissioner in charge of the department in question. Her name is Jessika Roswall, and you can find a contact email address on her webpage. If there is enough feedback from the public, maybe things will still change. Shipping is currently only available for Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada and other non-EU countries with the exception of the US and Great Britain.

Small, narrow rigid heddles can be found dating to different times and at different places. This specific rigid heddle is a reconstruction of a find from Spain, dating to the 2nd or 3rd century CE. The rigid heddle is the first such piece found in Spain that has a find context: It was part of the grave goods in a male grave. The original was found fragmented and placed into a bowl or plate. With about 4 cm width and a length of probably around 7 cm, it belongs to the group of narrow, small rigid heddles, often made from bone or antler, that are not only found in Roman context. The Spanish find has a hole close to the edge, outside of the first slit, so it can be assumed that it originally had four slits and five holes. A much later example, made from elk's antler, was found in Brygge, Bergen, Norway and dated to the 12th century (Øye, 1998).

The decoration of a slightly irregular circle-and-dot scattering is found on the original, but if a blackening was originally performed, it is not obvious anymore.
