Shipping to Netherlands possible due to de minimis threshold there!

Due to the new EU regulations on packaging waste, all other shipping into EU countries will still remain paused. Regulations were starting on August 12, 2026. The new regulations is valid for all vendors selling within the EU. There was a discussion in the EU committee on a threshold for small volumes or a memorandum on part of the rules, but unfortunately, it came to nothing.

If you are inconvenienced by this situation, my suggestion would be to write a short, polite, personal note about how you feel directly to the EU commissioner in charge of the department in question. Her name is Jessika Roswall, and you can find a contact email address on her webpage. If there is enough feedback from the public, maybe things will still change. If you would like to know more (including more ways to protest), you can find a blogpost I wrote here.

Shipping is currently only available for Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada and other non-EU countries with the exception of the US and Great Britain.

Real gold thread is the typical medieval metal thread. It consists of a silk core thread (undyed or dyed) that is wrapped with a slim, very thin strip of metal in a tight spiral. The metal strip is typically made from gilt silver, pure gold was very rarely used, due to its very high price.

Unlike most modern metallised threads, real gold thread is a little stiffer. The quality offered here, however, is surprisingly flexible. The very thin gold threads (c. 0.2 mm in diameter) can be stitched down or used as brocade weft. For embroidery, it is couched; for brocading, it can be used with all weaving techniques. Two threads at a time can be used to get better coverage quickly

The thread offered here was modeled after a find from the 12th century graveyard in Villach-Judendorf in Carinthia, Austria. It corresponds to the typical gold thread used in the Middle Ages - diameter of about 0.2 mm, undyed silk core thread wrapped in gilt silver. The thread is wound onto a reed core or a small wooden spool (please let me know in the comments for your order if you have a preference).

How much gold thread is necessary to cover a certain area? This depends on how tightly you place the threads, and on how many ends in which length you will pull to the back of the fabric. In theory, calculating with a perfect alignment of the threads and no loss, covering one square centimetre needs 50 cm of thread. With 10 m of gold thread, you should be able to cover close to 20 cm² of fabric, figuring in a little gets wasted at the ends.

Guarantee Information

I am very sorry, but due to the Brexit regulations, I am not able to sell or ship to the UK anymore.

Unfortunately shipping to the US is currently also not possible!

Because of the new tariff regulations active now, DHL is currently not offering any affordable shipments to the US and the US tax zone of Puerto Rico. I am sorry and hope that this issue will be resolved soon; until then, ordering to an address in the USA is unfortunately not possible.
