Shipping to Netherlands possible due to de minimis threshold there!

Due to the new EU regulations on packaging waste, all other shipping into EU countries will still remain paused. Regulations were starting on August 12, 2026. The new regulations is valid for all vendors selling within the EU. There was a discussion in the EU committee on a threshold for small volumes or a memorandum on part of the rules, but unfortunately, it came to nothing.

If you are inconvenienced by this situation, my suggestion would be to write a short, polite, personal note about how you feel directly to the EU commissioner in charge of the department in question. Her name is Jessika Roswall, and you can find a contact email address on her webpage. If there is enough feedback from the public, maybe things will still change. Shipping is currently only available for Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada and other non-EU countries with the exception of the US and Great Britain.

Care instructions: Hand wash at 30° C, do not tumble dry, do not soak for prolonged periods of time, iron on low heat. Dry flat.

This is a slightly thicker, two-ply thread with higher than usual twist and ply twist - thus it is closer to historical original threads than most modern industrially produced threads. Rauma produces yarn in Norway since 1927, and all steps in the production process are done by the company in their own plants. For this yarn, exclusively local (that is Norwegian) wool is used. Each ball weighs c. 50 g for a length of approximately 160 m. For knitting, the recommended needle size is 2.5 mm, for a gauge of c 28 stitches per 10 cm.

Apart from knitting, this two-ply can be used for nalbinding (needle binding), for tablet-weaving or other bandweaving, or for embroidery. It is a bit thinner than most commercial sock knitting yarns; the shorter length per gram compared to these knitting yarns is due to the higher twist.

The colours offered here are dyed with modern chemical dyeing procedures, but they correspond to colours that can be achieved with natural dyes. Colour selection for my stock was done comparing naturally dyed fabric samples to the Rauma thread colour samples, as can be seen in one of the product images.

I am very sorry, but due to the Brexit regulations, I am not able to sell or ship to the UK anymore.

Unfortunately shipping to the US is currently also not possible!

Because of the new tariff regulations active now, DHL is currently not offering any affordable shipments to the US and the US tax zone of Puerto Rico. I am sorry and hope that this issue will be resolved soon; until then, ordering to an address in the USA is unfortunately not possible.
