I don't often appreciate being hard of hearing, but your comment about not being able to listen to podcasts while hammering reminds me of OBE serious advantage--not only is sound from my phone popped directly to my hearing aids, but I can also mute the hearing aids, and hear only the recording.
That is definitely a pro for hearing aids... I didn't know that this was possible.
Theoretically, I could use earbuds, but I find them uncomfortable. Most of my crafting work is podcast-friendly enough anyways, so I have never tried to find comfy earbuds or bought one of these large over-ear things. When I have work that is too loud, I just pause things for these bits, or I have a small speaker to amplify things - for shorter intensive nailing sessions, though, I'm too lazy to set that up.
